The second volume of ‘Fridolin goes Pop’ begins with two lightly set traditional pieces with the feel of a ragtime blues. In all the following titles, the guitaristic demands are significantly higher. In addition to many changes of position, barré fingerings are required, as well as upstrokes and downstrokes, polyphonic playing and elaborate chord breakdowns. The rhythms common in pop music also require a confident handling of syncopation and off-beats. However, this should not cause any difficulties for experienced guitarists, especially as the recordings of the well-made pieces on the CD invite you to listen to them ‘just for fun’ and thus encourage you to play along and repeat them.
