Franz - Michael Deimling

Celleidoscope is a special composition for the 50th anniversary of the 12 cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The music is based on the idea of a kaleidoscope, in which colourful glass stones fall together differently each time they are turned, creating new images. The principle is adopted in the 12 cello parts: The instruments are arranged in a semi-circle and the musical building blocks run through the parts and are constantly rearranged, resulting in a unique music-playing and listening experience.

Franz-Michael Deimling wrote the ‘Jade Suite’ as a birthday present for the 225th anniversary of Heinrichshofen Verlag. The festive, fresh music for ensemble is suitable for festive occasions as well as for concerts and auditions and can also be played by slightly more advanced pupils. What makes it special: The suite consists of 5 movements, which can also be played individually. Each movement is 2:25 minutes long. The 225 is also found in the instrumentation: 2 woodwinds (flute, clarinet in A/B), 2 brass instruments (horn in F, trombone) and 5 strings (violin I/II, viola, violoncello, double bass). Als Projekt des Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Gymnasiums Berlin und den Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin wurde die Idee umgesetzt, Kunstwerke musikalisch zu betrachten. Franz-Michael Deimling schrieb daraufhin speziell für die SchülerInnen des Projektes neun Stücke in Reflexion zu ausgewählten Kunstwerken der Sammlungen. Das Ergebnis sind musikalische Bildbetrachtungen, die in dieser Ausgabe den Abbildungen der Kunstwerke gegenübergestellt sind. Zu hören sind die Werke unter anderem im YouTube-Projekt der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin "3 Perspektiven auf 1 Werk". Die Stücke sind für Solo- bis Triobesetzungen für Flöte, Violine, Viola, Violoncello, Horn, Posaune, Vibraphon, Pauke und Klavier.

Das "Holzspielzeug" besteht aus drei Miniaturen für Blockflötenquartett: Marionetten, Holzkugeln und Bauklötze. Alle drei kleinen Stücke haben einen ganz unterschiedlichen Charakter und bestechen durch eine sehr bildliche Klangsprache. "Holzspielzeug" entstand für das professionelle Blockflötenensemble "La Fluterie". Da es leicht bis mittelschwer ist, eignet es sich aber auch sehr gut für Musikschul- und Laien-Ensembles.
