Eberhard Kraus

Eberhard Kraus, born on 17 February 1931 in Regensburg as the son of the local cathedral organist, received his first musical training at home. He studied music as a student of Walter Georgii (piano), Li Stadelmann (harpsichord) and Heinrich Wismeyer (organ) at the State University of Music in Munich, followed by two years of organ studies with Friedrich Högner.
His professional career began in 1953, first as organist for the Sunday organ recitals at the Museum of the City of Regensburg, and later as a teacher of organ and music theory at the music school of the Regensburger Domspatzen. Eberhard Kraus has held the position of cathedral organist in Regensburg since 1964. The composer also works as an organ expert for the Diocese of Regensburg and as a lecturer in organ and organ studies at the Regensburg School of Church Music.
His extensive oeuvre includes works for organ, sacred vocal music, sacred instrumental music, piano pieces, chamber music and songs. The success of his compositions is documented by the fact that they are regularly performed and recorded by domestic and foreign broadcasters. Many of his pieces have also been recorded on LP (BASF, CBS, da camera magna, Deutsche Grammophon, MPS records, Sastruphon, etc.).
