These works, which are generally performed in the standard Baroque instrumentation for solo trumpet and basso continuo, are presented in the three-volume collection Tunes, Voluntaries ... from the Baroque period (BRASS TOTAL series).
The arrangements for trumpet quartet fundamentally change the tonal structure: instead of the traditional soloistic leadership and the harmonic foundation provided by the continuo, a homogeneous body of sound characterised by chamber music is created.
This concept not only opens up new ways of interpreting baroque trumpet music, but also lends the well-known pieces a fresh, transparent lustre - an attractive alternative to historically informed performance practice.
