Mendelssohns Violinkonzert op. 64 ist ein großer Pfeiler in der Reihe von Violinkonzerten des 19. Jahrhunderts. Doch wie auch seine Zeitgenossen Beethoven, Brahms und Tschaikowsky, schreibt auch Mendelssohn wenig Musik für die Flöte als Soloinstrument. Jean Cassignol schafft es nun, das weltberühmte Finale aus dem Violinkonzert op. 64 für Querflöte bzw. Altblockflöte einzurichten, sodass es dem Original in nichts nachsteht und dennoch auf die Ansprüche der Flöte eingeht.
