Man schätzte und spielte seine Werke, die den Publikumsgeschmack trafen. Hoffmeisters umfangreiches œuvre umfasst u. a. 9 Opern, mehr als 60 Sinfonien, Lieder, Klavierstücke und eine Vielzahl von Kommermusikwerken unterschiedlichster Besetzung. Die 3 vorliegenden Sonaten sind den "Six Sonates concertantes pour deux flûtes traversières" entnommen und zeichnen sich nicht zuletzt durch Spielfreudigkeit aus. Eine Transkription der 6 Violoncellosuiten für Querflöte steht im Einklang mit der auch von Bach ausgeübten Praxis, eigene und fremde Kompositionen für verschiedene Instrumente umzuschreiben. Veilhans textkritische Edition berücksichtigt die Quellenlage und belässt alle Suiten in den Originaltonarten, so dass die Authentizität des Werkes gewahrt bleibt

Jean-Claude Veilhan legt Bachs berühmtes "Italienisches Konzert" für Cembalo solo in einer interessanten Bearbeitung für zwei Querflöten vor. Die Umsetzung des konzertanten Stils stellt für beide Flötisten eine reizvolle Herausforderung dar.

The delicate "Vocalise," just 23 measures long, was written for a student. As a counterpart follows the rhythmically influenced "Dance", which is connected to the Vocalise by identical tonal material with a clearly pentatonic character. The monothematic, but richly varied arrangement of the entire composition is wonderfully suited as playing literature for (young) instrumentalists of the lower and intermediate levels. This version for solo instrument and piano offers various possibilities for instrumentation, since the part is included in high and low register and can be played, for example, by the violin first in 12th register and later repeated in high register if the violinist's skills have advanced. Likewise, it is possible to change to the higher octave on the flute or oboe or from the soprano to the alto recorder.
