Christmas carols from many foreign countries - mostly discovered by chance - are presented here in two-part movements, to which a 3rd voice ad lib. is added. As in the first volume, the melody part is in the first to third position, the accompanying part is somewhat more demanding and is therefore intended more for the teacher or an advanced student. Ignaz Pleyel (1757-1831), Schüler und Freund von Joseph Haydn, ist heute vor allem als Klavierbauer bekannt. Aus seinem kompositorischen Schaffen wählte Gerhard Braun 12 Sonatinen aus, die wahrscheinlich auf Violinduos zurückgehen. Kürzer als die bekannteren Duos, spürt man auch in den Sonatinen die Meisterschaft Pleyels, die zweite Stimme nicht nur als Begleitung, sondern als gleichberechtigte Stimme zu gestalten. Mit ihrer eingängigen Melodik und formalen Einfachheit erfreute sich die Musik großer Beliebtheit und ist auch heute als Unterrichtsliteratur und Einstieg in den Stil der Wiener Klassik gut verwendbar.

Dem Wunsch vieler Geiger nach etwas "flott-modernem" folgend, das "geigerisch nicht zu schwierig und dabei wirkungsvoll" sein soll, entwickelte Hansdieter Meier Variationen zu seinem fröhlich-eingängigen Thema "Das Christkind", das wohl dank seiner Ohrwurm-Qualität auch bereits im Rundfunk (NDR) zu hören war. Die gelungene Synthese aus Streicherischem und Jazz-, Rock-, Pop-Stil stellt eine farbliche Bereicherung sowohl für Konzerte als auch für den Unterricht dar.

Albertus Groneman (1711-1778) war seinen Zeitgenossen vor allem als Violinvirtuose bekannt. Die sechs Sonaten entstanden um 1738 in den Niederlanden, wo Groneman lange Zeit lebte. Sie sind nach italienischem Modell viersätzig und enthalten entsprechend der Zeit empfindsame und galante Elemente.
