"Romance op. 85"
Max Bruch composed the work for viola and orchestra in F major in his late creative phase and dedicated it to the then famous violist Maurice Vieux. This composition is one of three for viola, a rather neglected instrument at the time. Today, the ‘Romance’ is considered one of Max Bruch's most important Romantic works for viola and orchestra and is part of the standard repertoire for violas.
