Max Bruch composed the work for viola and orchestra in F major in his late creative phase and dedicated it to the then famous violist Maurice Vieux. This composition is one of three for viola, a rather neglected instrument at the time. Today, the ‘Romance’ is considered one of Max Bruch's most important Romantic works for viola and orchestra and is part of the standard repertoire for violas. Als Projekt des Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Gymnasiums Berlin und den Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin wurde die Idee umgesetzt, Kunstwerke musikalisch zu betrachten. Franz-Michael Deimling schrieb daraufhin speziell für die SchülerInnen des Projektes neun Stücke in Reflexion zu ausgewählten Kunstwerken der Sammlungen. Das Ergebnis sind musikalische Bildbetrachtungen, die in dieser Ausgabe den Abbildungen der Kunstwerke gegenübergestellt sind. Zu hören sind die Werke unter anderem im YouTube-Projekt der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin "3 Perspektiven auf 1 Werk". Die Stücke sind für Solo- bis Triobesetzungen für Flöte, Violine, Viola, Violoncello, Horn, Posaune, Vibraphon, Pauke und Klavier.

Werner Heider completed ‘One Chapter' for four string instruments (violin, viola, violoncello and double bass) in June 2018. The 8.5-minute work was premiered in Nuremberg in May 2019.

The present quartet dates from the Viennese period before 1804: it is the first and most charming of a group of three flute quartets first printed in 1795, and with its pleasing melodicism and concertante treatment of all four parts, it belongs entirely to the Viennese classical style.

The aim of Let's rag... is to make ragtime music accessible to a large number of instrumentalists.
