Like ‘Three for Two and Two for One’, Werner Heider also wrote ‘Blue Celebration’ for violinist and long-time partner Oliver Colbentson, this time as a birthday present. In this work by Heider, the violin plays solo. Beginning quietly, the piece builds up again and again until it concludes with a triple piano.

Seven tones plus play

Composed in 2008, the piece with its allusion to the popular song ‘Tea for Two’ is dedicated to Oliver Colbentson (violin), Werner Heider's musical partner of many years, and is followed by a somewhat ironic ‘Serenade’ and a violin solo with a ‘shot’. ‘Various thoughts’ precede the “Gang” of the piano solo.
