14 Christmas carols 14 of the best-known Christmas carols favoured by young recorder players are presented in easy movements. The two parts are not combined like a score. Each player has their own part and can play from it. The simple two-part structure means that there are no problems with communication. The first soprano recorder is accompanied by the well-known texts with a series of verses. The collection includes traditional and well-known Advent and Christmas carols such as ‘Auf, auf! Die rechte Zeit ist hier’ (Arise, arise! The right time is here), ‘Leise rieselt der Schnee’ (Silently falls the snow), ‘Es flog ein Täublein weiße’ (A little white dove flew), ‘Macht hoch die Tür’ (Lift up the door), ‘Maria durch ein Dornwald ging’ (Mary walked through a thorn forest) and many more. The pieces are classified as very easy to easy and are therefore particularly suitable for children and beginners . They are arranged for two soprano recorders. The sheet music edition was developed for playing together in groups and ensembles , especially for use during the Advent and Christmas season in schools, music schools or at home . ‘ Zieh, Schimmel ... ’ is a collection of simple pieces based on traditional children's songs, rhymes and games. The individual compositions have titles such as ‘Winter Song’, ‘Counting Rhyme’, ‘Children's Game’ and ‘Children's Round Dance’ and were specifically designed for musical adaptation for recorder duets. The edition contains pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Crüger, Andreas Hammerschmidt, Leonhard Schröter, Johann Walter and Anonymus. Five-part chorales and motets as well as four-part chorales with one or two upper voices served as models.

It was important to keep the pieces in their original form and only make them playable for recorders by choosing suitable keys. Blockflöten, Querflöten und Oboen sind neben den französischen Rokoko-Modeinstrumenten Dudelsack und Drehleier ausdrücklich im Originaltitel genannt.
