Not only at Christmas time…
Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s instrumental “Noëls” from the time of Louis XIV enchant listeners with their elegant dance movements throughout the year. Dagmar Scherschmidt has combined the Noëls sur les instruments, the Noëls pour les instruments and the Agnus Dei from the Messe de Minuit and arranged them for recorder quartet SATB, recorder octet SATB TBGbSb, viol consort and basso continuo ad libitum, which can be freely combined. Especially through the alternation of high and low choirs, Charpentier’s characteristic sound colours are vividly conveyed.
