The choice of easy-to-play keys and the shortening of the original length to a manageable two piano pages per ragtime allows players to realise these arrangements without time-consuming preparation. The advantages of the Let's rag arrangements include the simplification of the rhythmic notation by doubling the note values from 2/4 time to alla breve 4/4 time. Samuel Scheidt (1587-1654) composed this early Baroque instrumental piece, which was published in 1621 and describes a war situation, for 4 to 5 wind instruments (2 cornetts and 3 trombones) and basso continuo. This arrangement transposes the composition and changes the part-writing in the lower parts, making the Battaglia very easy to play.

According to oral sources, the 6 Aufzugsmusiken, which are presented here for the first time as a complete practical edition, originate from the church of Schnaitsee in Upper Bavaria; the composer is anonymous.
