Franz Xaver Murschhauser (1663–1738) was a South German composer and music theorist of the Baroque period. He worked primarily as an organist and conductor at the Frauenkirche in Munich. In addition to his organ works, he also composed sacred music and cycles of variations on Christmas carols. His 6 Variations for Recorder Quartet, which are suitable for ensembles, teaching and concerts, are also in this tradition.

Günter Kaluza brings together original manualiter organ works from the 18th and 19th centuries in the 7th volume of the Praestant series. All of the composers spent part of their lives in Philadelphia/Pennsylvania. The pieces are also available individually as pdf files. In each of the organ works included, the overall sound of all stops is required in one or more places. The edition contains works by Boëllmann, Dubois, Gigout, Lemmens and Saint-Saëns. The selected composers once caused a furore in Paris, but are increasingly being forgotten.

César Franck's works have been enjoying growing popularity for several years and are increasingly finding their way into organ concert programmes. Günter Kaluza's edition makes lesser-known pieces from César Franck's oeuvre available in a practical edition. The works were probably composed before 1860, but bear Franck's unmistakable compositional signature.

As an essential part of English music-making, organ music developed completely independently of the continent until the middle of the 19th century. Until then, even large English organs had no independent pedal division or only an attached pedal. Accordingly, the present collection consists only of manualiter pieces and predominantly of the typical two- to four-movement voluntaries. W.A. Mozart überwand mit der Schaffung der "Kleinen Nachtmusik" den traditionellen Serenadentypus der Freiluftmusiken mit gemischten Besetzungen (Bläser / Streicher). Statt dessen komponierte er seine heute wohl bekannteste Musik für ein reines Streicherensemble mit kompositorischen Raffinessen, wie sie in der bisherigen Gebrauchs- und Freiluftmusik nicht üblich waren, da man den Verlust des Unterhaltungscharakters befürchtete. Jean Cassignol setzte bei der Einrichtung für fünf Blockflöten die Sätze eine Quinte höher. Die 2. Stimme wechselt zwischen Sopran- und Altblockflöte, die dritte Stimme zwischen Alt- und Tenorblockflöte. Die Tenorblockflöte 2 (4. Stimme) muss in der Romance (2. Satz) auch einmal Bassblockflöte spielen. Die Suite oder Partita BWV 997 ist unbestritten ein Werk Johann Sebastian Bachs. Die hier vorgelegte Fassung wird zum ersten Mal für Blockflöte und Basso continuo (Cembalo und Violoncello) vorgelegt, wobei die Partie des Cembalo besonders in der Fuge anspruchsvoll ist.
