Christmas music from Dalmatia for two and three recorders of different tunings or any other instruments.
In Volume IV of the International Music Society’s anthology, Robert Lach published organ pieces which he had heard on the island of Lussin during a Christmas midnight mass and had subsequently copied from a manuscript dated 1 December 1830. The melodies are so lovely that it seemed sensible to make them available to recorder players in a simplified version. These pastorals combine Italian and Croatian elements in a delightful blend, based on ancient folk tunes.
Instead of recorders, any other instruments may be used; the violin, for example, is well suited for the lower part of the three-part arrangements.
