Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) is one of the most important composers in music history – his church cantatas combine spiritual depth with musical expressiveness.
This edition contains selected arias and chorales from the cantatas BWV 175 “Er rufet seinen Schafen mit Namen” (He calls his sheep by name), BWV 91 “Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ” (Praise be to you, Jesus Christ), BWV 1 ‘Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern’ (How beautifully shines the morning star) and the chorales from BWV 251 ‘Gott, wie groß ist deine Güte’ (God, how great is your goodness) and BWV 252 ‘Jesu, deine Gnadenblicke’ (Jesus, your gracious gaze), arranged for trumpet (C | B) and organ. Eberhard Kraus (1931-2003) has arranged the works for practical use in liturgy and smaller concert ensembles. The collection is particularly suitable for use in church services, on festive days or as a classy repertoire for brass instruments with organ.
