When Johann Sebastian Bach was in Berlin in 1718 and 1719, he met Margrave Christian Ludwig of Brandenburg. He dedicated six concertos to him under the title ‘Concerts avec plusieurs instruments’. Today, these works are known as the Brandenburg Concertos and are considered as important masterpieces of music history. The present work was arranged for brass.
